The municipality of Gazi Baba has several times carried out an action to clean the courtyard of the building, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, from where, in turn, they should find a solution for the people who found shelter in this abandoned building with substandard living conditions. .

The ruined building of the former home for care and education of children and youth with problematic behavior "Ranka Milanović" in Triangle neighborhood, has been turned into a landfill full of waste for years, where homeless people and even families with children live in extremely inhumane conditions. No one can say exactly how many citizens live in it, and the number that is most often mentioned by the institutions is between 60 and 100 people, who spend their everyday life in stench and garbage.

Citizens living in the area, especially companies from this part, constantly pointed out the situation in the home and called for a solution. The municipality of Gazi Baba has several times carried out an action to clean the yard of the building, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, from where they should find a solution for the people who found shelter in this abandoned building in substandard living conditions.

The Minister of Labor and Social Policy Gjoko Velkovski and the Mayor of Gazi Baba Boban Stefkovski visited the homeless located in "Ranka Milanović" yesterday, and today the teams of the PUC "Gazi Baba" with their own machinery started an action to clean up the waste from the courtyard of the building. Packages of food and hygiene products were distributed to the people living in the facility.

With regret, I can state that for more than two years I have encountered a wall from the Government and the Ministry to help these people in cleaning the space that surrounds them because there is a great risk of developing an epidemic. Several times I informed the relevant minister in writing, including about the petitions of the citizens who live nearby, as well as the complaints of the surrounding companies that gravitate to this area, Stefkovski said.

According to Velkovski, it is about the initial help to prevent possible infection among adults, but above all the children who are housed in this facility.

They live in extremely inhumane conditions. That's why today, together with the mayor Boban Stefkovski, we went to the field to clean the yard where people spend their everyday life with his help - said Velkovski

The technical minister promised a systemic solution for these people to get dignified social housing, which is in accordance with all conventions for the protection of human rights.

The Center for Social Affairs has initially accommodated the beneficiaries with several solutions over the years. I will say it again and it should be considered whether it is legal, because this home was for a completely different social category of citizens, not for housing homeless people. However, he accommodated them with solutions at that moment and they were renewed several times. Now I think the number is not more than 70 people who are here in the circle of this building. It should be done systematically to solve the problem, and that also means that they would have better living conditions and better housing than what they have at the moment - Velkovski said.

The "Ranka Milanović" home was disbanded in 2019, and the residents, in the process of deinstitutionalization, were transferred to small group homes. Since then, no one has seriously engaged in finding a solution for the condition of this building, which is on the verge of an environmental disaster, especially for the people without a home and livelihood, who live in it in terrible conditions.
