Two-day annual conference "Year of New Opportunities" in Skopje

The Government of the Republic of North Macedonia is organizing a two-day annual conference "Year of New Opportunities" that will start tomorrow in Skopje.

The purpose of the conference is to make a cross-section of government measures and developments in 2022 through discussion, with an emphasis on future directions and vision for the new year 2023.

- Together with the vice-prime ministers, ministers, representatives from the institutions, from the international community, from the unions, from the chambers, from the non-governmental sector, we will debate about the most current topics that are in focus today. I believe that fruitful discussions will provide good guidelines on how to look at this year 2023 as an opportunity and use the challenges to ensure stability, security and a better European standard of living, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski wrote on Facebook today.

Within the framework of the conference, it is planned to hold a total of eight panels on different topics.

- At the first panel, "EU integrations and reform processes", the European integration process, screening, European funds, social reforms, as well as the rule of law and European values ​​will be discussed. At the second, "Capital and infrastructural projects for a better quality of life and development of culture in crisis conditions", capital infrastructural investments will be discussed, as well as achievements and plans, as well as realized and planned capital investments in education, culture and life. environment. At the third, "Investments and economic growth in crisis conditions", we will discuss the conditions and opportunities that will ensure additional foreign and domestic direct investments, will provide new jobs, a higher standard, but we will also discuss the general guidelines for economic growth in crisis conditions. The fourth, "Social and health policies in times of crisis", will discuss the effects of anti-crisis measures, the introduction of new methodologies for the growth of minimum and average wages, as well as the new methodology for the growth of pensions, as well as health policies in the past. and next year, the Government informs.

During the second day of the conference, four panels will also be held.

- The conference begins with the panel entitled "Northern Macedonia as a green energy hub - how to turn the crisis into an opportunity" which will discuss the energy challenges, the energy transformation of the country and the potentials of the green economy. The second panel, "Foreign, security and defense policy, challenges and opportunities for ensuring international cooperation and security", will discuss the importance of our chairmanship of the OSCE, the benefits of NATO membership, as well as other aspects of foreign, security and defense politics of North Macedonia. The third panel, "Fiscal, monetary and tax policies in times of crisis" will discuss the challenges and opportunities for implementing fiscal, monetary and tax policies that will ensure stability, security and the opportunity for further economic development, according to the Government.

The fourth, final panel, which will conclude the conference, is entitled "Balanced regional and local development and benefits of the new system for subsidies in agriculture". It will discuss the possibilities for the development of agriculture through the new subsidy system, as well as the possibilities for balanced regional development through the support of the local self-government, as well as the role of the diaspora in the development of the local economy.
