Two women, one from Skopje and the other from Shtip, were arrested yesterday after they were stopped on the Skopje-Shtip highway near Sveti Nikole, and the police found objects in their car suspected to be cultural heritage, as well as diggers and metal detectors. , the Ministry of the Interior announced.

"Police officers from the Mobile Unit for Compensatory Measures at the Department of Border Affairs and Migration deprived the 52-year-old N.L.S. from Skopje and M.N. (41) from Shtip. On the Skopje - Shtip highway, at the Jug-Sveti Nikole junction, during an inspection of a "Peugeot" passenger vehicle with Skopje registration plates, driven by N.L.S., in which M.N. was a passenger, several pieces of old coins and other items suspected to be cultural heritage items, as well as two gold detectors and several diggers," the police bulletin said.

The two women were detained at the police station and in an official conversation they stated that they were doing the excavation at a location near the village of Stanjevce, Svetinikolsko. After the case is fully documented, an appropriate report will be filed against them, added the Ministry of the Interior.
