Two soldiers were killed and six others were wounded today in an attack by militants in Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan. The Pakistani army said an officer was among the wounded in a heavy exchange of fire with the attackers, who fled after their attack was repelled.

Two civilians were also wounded in the attack.

The military has not identified the attackers and no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Balochistan insurgents have carried out similar attacks on security forces in recent months.
