Two Macedonian citizens were injured in the earthquake in Turkey. According to information from the MFA, these are students who are staying in that country through the "Erasmus Plus" program.

- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Embassy in Ankara and Consulate General in Istanbul, provided information and contacted nine of our citizens who are in the threatened region. It is about eight students and their mentor/teacher, who are staying in the Republic of Turkey through the "Erasmus Plus" program. As a result of the earthquake, two of the students suffered physical injuries: one student has more serious injuries - a fracture that medical personnel are currently working on and is in the repair phase, while the second student has minor injuries. None of the students and the mentor are in danger - the Ministry informed.

So far, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no information about other Macedonian citizens who are in a dangerous situation, or who need assistance, but as they say from there, the representations remain in continuous communication both with the competent institutions of Turkey and with Macedonian citizens who are informed and which inform about the conditions on the ground.

- According to the instructions of the MFA, a diplomat from the Embassy in Ankara has already been sent to the region to help with the evacuation of students from the city of Kahraman Marash, as well as to provide information and presence directly on the ground in the most threatened parts for possible additional interventions - added the MFA.

The Ministry reminds that the diplomatic missions in Turkey are available 24 hours a day for all possible questions, on the phone numbers: +905394569710 in Ankara, +905456149777 in Istanbul, and + SOS phone of the MFA in Skopje 38975273732.
