Federal prosecutors arrested two suspected Russian spies in Bavaria yesterday on suspicion of spying and planning attacks on military targets to undermine support for Ukraine, Euraktiv reports today.

The two men are suspected of working for a foreign intelligence service in a "particularly difficult case," prosecutors said. One is accused of planning attacks, primarily against military infrastructure and industrial facilities in Germany.

– Our security authorities prevented possible explosive attacks to undermine our military aid to Ukraine. This is a serious case of suspicious activity by an agent of Putin's criminal regime, Interior Minister Nancy Feser told reporters.

According to the prosecution, the main defendant was in contact with a person connected to the Russian secret service since October 2023.

The two men were also said to have scouted several potential targets, including US bases, where they were gathering information related to the attack.
