Two Kosovo Serb party leaders arrested in North Mitrovica for booing Kurti
The leader of the party of the Kosovo Serbs, Serbian Democracy, Aleksandar Arsenijević, together with the vice-president of the party Ilija Orlović, was arrested this afternoon in Severna Mitrovica for disturbing the public order and peace.
The media reported that Arsenijevic and Orlovic were arrested for booing Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, who, accompanied by ministers in his government, is currently staying in the north of Kosovo, inhabited by a majority Serb population.
Asked about the arrest, the deputy head of the Kosovo police for the northern region, Veton Eljshani, told the media that it was true that the arrested whistled, but he did not say at whom.
In a statement to the Serbian-language portal "KoSSev", Eljshani said that those arrested will be released and fined for disturbing public order and peace.
At the time of the incident, Kurti was in a recently opened fast food restaurant on the promenade in Mitrovica. With him are the head of the Kosovo MUP, Djeljalj Svechlja, as well as the Kosovo Minister of Local Self-Government, Eljbert Krasniqi.
They previously laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Kosovo police station in the village of Leshak, in the municipality of Leposavic.
In the center of Severna Mitrovica, as informed by KoSSev, there are increased forces of the Kosovo Police, including special units with armored vehicles.
After staying in the restaurant, Kurti and the ministers headed to the recently closed building where the parallel Serbian institutions functioned in Severna Mitrovica.
Kurti announced the project for the construction of a park next to this building, and then went to a meeting with the mayor from his party, Erden Atić, in the building of the municipality of Severna Mitrovica.
