Two British cities remain in the running to host Eurovision 2023
The selection of the host city for the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held next year in Great Britain, is entering its final phase, the BBC said.
After the host city shortlist was reduced from seven to two, Glasgow and Liverpool remain in the running. Unfortunately, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield missed out on hosting next year's music competition.
The chairman of the commission, Phil Harold thanked the candidate cities for showing great desire to organize the event.
"We were incredibly impressed with the quality and creativity of all the bids," Harold said.
He added that the Eurovision Song Contest is a very difficult event to organize, and Liverpool and Glasgow have the highest quality offer according to all criteria.
A final decision will be made "within a few weeks", the BBC said.
Great Britain was chosen to host this music competition because this year's winner, Ukraine, is unable to host the event due to the ongoing war. The British singer Sam Ryder won the second place.
