More than half of the gas from the damaged Nord Stream-1 and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines has already been released into the waters of the Baltic Sea, the Danish Energy Agency said.

The DPA Agency transmits a statement of the head of the Agency, Christopher Botsau, who says the leak is so extensive that at the current rate, both pipelines are expected to be completely empty by Sunday.

The gas that comes out is mainly methane and according to the calculations of the Danish agency, its impact on the climate is equivalent to a third of the amount released in Denmark in an entire year.

However, the Agency assures that there is no risk to the health of the population, nor to the residents of Bornholm Island in the Baltic Sea.
