The joint Macedonian-Bulgarian commission for historical and educational issues is not competent to discuss and negotiate the historical aspects of the Ohrid Archdiocese, after which a harmonized text should be included in the textbooks for primary education, according to the Democratic Union.

- The Ohrid Archdiocese is connected with the centuries-old survival and uniqueness of the Macedonian people, which is why to negotiate whether this Archdiocese is Macedonian or Bulgarian is tantamount to high treason - say DS.

According to the party, the eventual agreement will be part of the Protocol, that means part of the Negotiating Framework for starting accession negotiations with the EU.

- DS demands that the minutes of the negotiations be made public and if this issue has been discussed, the Commission (from the Macedonian part) be dismissed and historians resistant to political influence be elected to the commission - say DS.

Reaction from the Macedonian team in the mixed historical commission: We are not working on determining the status of MOC-OA, but on the representation of OA in history textbooks
