Firefighters in Greece have been fighting the fire in the Greek region of Attica for more than 24 hours. The fire broke out on several fronts, and houses were destroyed, hospitals were evacuated, and at least 1.000 firefighters are trying to localize the terrible fire that is persistently fanned by the strong wind.
A photo of a plane taken over the outskirts of Athens has been published on social networks, showing how the fire mercilessly devours everything in front of it.
Greek media reports that the fire has engulfed around 100.000 hectares not far from Athens. Photos and videos released by the media show the fire engulfing houses and vehicles.
The blaze prompted numerous evacuations in Athens' suburbs and outlying areas as strong winds hampered efforts by hundreds of firefighters and dozens of aircraft to contain the blaze.
The police department released a video on its social media channels showing officers carrying people in their arms out of houses and to vehicles.
