Drama on the Danube: Passengers stuck on a boat, it is not known when they will get off
Due to the great floods in Europe, a passenger ship sailing on the Danube got stuck in Austria, reports B92.net.
The 110-meter-long ship, which can accommodate up to 140 passengers, was headed for Budapest, but was forced to anchor near Vienna due to heavy rain.
The ship, which left on Friday despite forecasts of torrential rain, has passengers from Switzerland.
"At that moment, even the experts whose expertise was in demand could not foresee that the Danube was not navigable in this area. The planned destination for the trip is Budapest, and at the moment it is very far," said Daniel Pauli-Kaufmann, managing director of "Thurgau Travel".
According to Pauli-Kaufman, local authorities decide when people can disembark.
