The member of the Serbian Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, said today that he expects him and his associates to be the target of new US sanctions, but stressed that this will not prevent him from implementing plans to ensure Republika Srpska as much independence as possible. potentially separate it from BiH.

"Sanctions are possible, but it is more a reflection of their powerlessness than of power," Dodik told reporters, commenting on an announcement by BiH Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic, who told reporters in Sarajevo this morning that expect new sanctions.

Turkovic did not specify who exactly and to whom the sanctions will be imposed, but it is speculated that it will be a decision of the US government and that officials and persons related to Bosnian Serbs will be targeted.

"It has been worked on for a long time and I think there is a harmonized position between the United States and the European Union. "This is not the end, but the beginning of the introduction of sanctions," Turkovic said.

Dodik accused the Americans of "working with Muslims" to impose sanctions, but called it futile.

The Bosnian Serb response to the expected US sanctions will be a continuation of the current policy, regardless of the consequences, he said.

"I am sorry we have such a problem with the United States," said Dodik, who has been on the US blacklist since 2017 and has been barred from entering the country ever since.

He also said he would never intend to apply for a US visa again, even if Washington lifted its existing sanctions.

Dodik also hopes that The United States will start rethinking the concept of partitioning BiH, meaning that Bosnian Serbs will eventually be allowed to secede from BiH and join Serbia.
