The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov stated today on his Facebook profile that on Sunday, in the second round of local elections, he will support the current mayor of the City of Skopje and candidate for another term Petre Shilegov. At the same time, he says that the lesson from the first round of local elections is that we must work differently, much better and more honestly.

- With this writing I want to give sincere and wholehearted support to Petre Shilegov. I will vote for him on Sunday, with a clear conscience. Did Petre do much for Skopje in the first term? Absolutely. Is he an ideal mayor? I do not believe. Is she incomparably better than the other candidate? I have no dilemmas, pointed out Dimitrov, for the candidate from the ranks of the ruling SDSM.

He pointed out that he had a dilemma whether to run for a candidate in the local elections. He emphasized that he is not a party man, but that he feels an obligation to the citizens of Skopje to express his position.

- With the voters from EU 1 we have mutual trust from the parliamentary elections. I have always been and will be the voice of the citizens. I have no political or ethical obligation to give blank support guided by the letters of the party, by a logic that is not close to me: "if they are mine, they are good no matter what - if they are others, they are bad no matter what". I was born in Skopje and grew up mainly in Centar, and I spent a lot of my childhood with my grandmother in Karposh. I love Skopje, although when I can I go around the square that honestly through "Skopje 2014" made a celebration of kitsch. I love Skopje with all its flaws. Maybe I am biased, because there is almost no street and alley where I have no memories, but the city has a big soul. And that is why, as a citizen, I decided to tell myself what I think about being elected mayor of my city, emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.

Dimitrov pointed out that for the "choice" in a broader sense, as far as the strategic direction of the homeland, the situation is difficult.

- The opposition neither helps nor realistically races in the same direction - a strong and European democracy, freedom and justice for all, a NATO member and a deserved, although still unfulfilled, EU decision to start accession negotiations. On the other hand, it is quite clear to me that for many it is not enough. It is clear to me that almost five years have passed. The regime is hard to remember. The lesson from the first round of local elections is that we must work differently, far better and more honestly. Paradoxically maybe, but either that lesson will be understood real and you will drive straight up or the car will roll down again. Much сè or everything will really depend on the results of that lesson, concluded Dimitrov.
