Dimitrievska Kochovska: Rebalancing is patching the holes
Patching the holes, this is what the Minister of Finance Gordana Dimitrieska Kochoska called tonight the rebalancing of the Budget for 2024, which was adopted by the Assembly today, on the proposal of the Government.
As Dimitrieska Kochoska assessed in the Sitel TV Diary, the initial Budget did not plan what was legal, and with the rebalancing, not only that, but also the servicing of the many overdue obligations. There is money, he said, for salaries, pensions, as well as funds for the municipalities.
The minister believes that the linear increase of pensions is the best model, and the minimum wage and its increase should be determined, as she said, correctly, on a realistic basis.
Regarding corridors 8 and 10, he reiterated that the two projects cannot be pursued in parallel. Maybe in two-three years, he explained, it will be possible to include Corridor 8, which for now has no added value for us, and Corridor 10, he emphasized, is much more important for the business sector, and at the same time, it is the government's obligation and priority to provide companies with in anticipation.
When asked about "Bechtel and Enka", Dimitrieska Kochoska answered that 250 million euros are planned for next year.
- Regarding the minimum wage and its increase, we should look at the work realistically. Personally, I would like everyone to get a raise. But when you set things up, they should be on a realistic basis. We must work on the correct determination of the minimum wage, which means higher productivity. We have to look at things in the long term. In terms of pensions, those with the lowest pensions of 13-000 denars will now receive the most. We will go with a linear increase in September and March, and then return to the old methodology. If you ask me personally, I am in favor of linear growth of pensions, underlined Dimitrieska Kochoska.
Turning to the debt, he emphasized that there is no longer a risk for the state's credit rating.
- A total of 181 million euros is the debt that we incur because of a bunch of overdue obligations that were not even reported, the minister said.
She also referred to the Law on increasing officials' salaries, which, she recalled, was passed by the previous government. He suggested that a law be passed to reduce the salaries of officials, that everyone should return the money they received so far on the basis of increased officials' salaries, and that those who receive it should stop appanage.
