A dessert you're sure to enjoy: Easy panna cotta recipe
Panna cotta is a traditional Italian pudding-like dessert. Although it is mostly served in restaurants and pastry shops, it is actually very easy to prepare at home. This dessert was created in the north of Italy, and literally translated from Italian it means "cooked cream".
It is created as a combination of cream and sugar, flavored with vanilla, and is served in the shape of a glass or a small, round mold in which it is formed as it cools.
In addition to being light and delicious, panna cotta is a favorite dessert around the world because of its ease of preparation. The mild, milky taste and the numerous preparation possibilities, such as caramel filling, melted chocolate or a combination with fruit, make it an ideal dessert with a spoon for any time of the year.
Ingredients for panna cotta:
- 500 ml sweet sour cream
– 1 stick of vanilla
– 8 sheets of gelatin
- 80 g of sugar
Preparation:
Begin preparation by placing the gelatin sheets in cold water for 10 to 15 minutes. Cut the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds with a knife. Meanwhile, put the sweet cream in a medium-sized saucepan, add the sugar, the seeds and the vanilla stick.
Heat over low heat until it begins to boil, then turn off the heat and set the pot aside. When the gelatin is dissolved, drain it from the water and add it to the liquid with the cream that you have heated and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.
Prepare round molds with a capacity of 150 ml, fill them with the panna cotta and leave them in the refrigerator for at least five hours. When they are formed and set, dip each mold in boiling water for a few seconds and invert it onto a plate.
The possibilities for serving and decorating are numerous: you can serve the panna cotta alone or with a topping of your choice, such as caramel, melted chocolate or fruit filling.
