Many Hellenes converted to the faith of Christ, for which he was bitterly tormented by the pagans with hunger, imprisonment, and beatings. They laid him naked on the ground, tied him to four dry stakes, and beat him mercilessly until they pulled the flesh from his bones. However, the martyr remained alive, and those dry stakes became greener and grew into tall trees, from which the vast majority of the sick received healing. Finally, St. Terapont was slaughtered like a lamb, in the time of Valerian, and with his soul moved to the Kingdom of Heaven to see the glory of God in eternity. He suffered honestly in 259.
