Today is the feast of the Holy Apostle Karp
One of the seventy. Follower and companion of the holy Apostle Paul, by whom he was appointed bishop of Beria Thracian. He also preached the Gospel in Crete, where he received St. Dionysius the Areopagite in his home. Saint Dionysius testifies about him that he was a man adorned with a pure mind, meekness and innocence, and that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself appeared to him in a vision with His Angels and never started the Holy Liturgy if he had not had a heavenly vision before. Because of the name of Christ he suffered many afflictions. Finally, he suffered from the unfaithful Jews who killed him, so he moved with his soul to the Kingdom of God to enjoy eternally seeing the Lord in glory.
