St. priest-martyr Autonomous

According to the MOC calendar (Julian calendar), today is September 12.

Today is St. priest-martyr Autonomous.

During the persecutions of Diocletian, Autonomus, who was originally from Italy, moved to the area of Bithynia in Asia Minor, to a place called Soreos. In the church he was a bishop. In Soreos, he built the church of St. Archangel Michael. Near Soreos was the town of Limna, inhabited exclusively by heathens. Saint Autonomus preached the Gospel and converted many to the Gospel faith here. And the Gentiles became angry because of it. One day they stormed into the church of Saint Michael the Archangel and killed Saint Autonomus in the altar and killed many other Christians in the church. During the time of Constantine, a church was built on the grave of St. Autonomus, and 150 years later, the incorruptible relics of this saint were found, through which many received healing.
