Today we celebrate Venerable Gregory the Decapolis

Venerable Gregory the Decapolis

He was born in Decapolis of Isavria, to Sergius and Mary, honorable and pious parents. When he finished school his parents wanted to marry him, but he fled to the desert and became a monk. He lived in various places: in Byzantium, in Rome, on the Olympic Mountain. Wherever he went, he amazed people with his deeds and miracles. It was going to warm the celestial light; to have Angels of God appear to him. He saw the beauty of the Angels and listened to their loving singing. He lived a long and godly life and died peacefully in the 9th century in Constantinople, when he moved to the joy of his Lord.
