Demi Moore: America was built on puritans, religious fanatics and criminals
The American actress Demmy Moor started a new chapter of his career with the film "The Substance", which recently premiered in France.
Moore, addressing the audience, said that the themes dealt with in this horror film in a way break down American taboos.
"America is built on puritans, religious fanatics and criminals, and this can be seen in some way through the presidential elections," said the actress on stage at the French Cinematheque.
"Sexuality has always been a taboo subject, and in America there is a lot of fear about the body. It's something I've never been able to relate to or understand. I'm sure I attracted attention with the movies I chose, partly because I never understood the fear of the body. "I've never understood why we celebrate the body in fine art but fear it in film," added Moore.
Demi Moore's new film has won the hearts of film buffs and film critics alike after its highly successful premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received an 11-minute standing ovation.
In it, Moore plays Elizabeth Sparkle, a fitness star who gets fired on her 50th birthday. However, soon after she receives an unexpected offer – a mysterious laboratory offers her a substance that causes her to become a "younger and better" version of herself through cell replication.
