December bonuses statistically "blow out" January salaries

Against the daily complaints of employers that they lack workers, advertising of favorable conditions, bonuses, offering a reward for the one who brings in a worker, the State Statistics Office records a decrease of the January salary compared to the December salary by 421 denars. If in January the average salary in the country was 33.943 denars, in December last year it was 34.364 denars. However, the State Statistics Office explained to "Sloboden Pechat" that this drop in salaries is due exclusively to the various bonuses and awards that are usually given out in December and that every year a drop in the January salary compared to the December salary is registered.

Statistics of the Employment Agency show that there are 8.331 vacancies. There are the most vacancies in the manufacturing industry, where salaries decreased by 5 percent in one month, that is, from 30.894 denars, which was the average for December, to 29.365 denars in January.
According to the data from the State Statistics Office, there is a decrease in salaries in several sectors, and the biggest increase is in the "Telecommunications" sector and is 7 percent in January compared to last December.

Did the wholesalers collect the frozen margins from the employees?

The second place in terms of labor demand is the trade sector. In trade, there are a total of 1.294 vacancies, or 15,5 percent of the vacancies. But in the sector "Wholesale trade, except trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles" there is a decrease in wages by 9,6 percent! There, the January average was 33.574 denars, while the average for December was 39.256 denars.
As is known, in wholesale and retail trade there is a limitation of margins for most of the basic food products. However, in retail trade, despite the restriction of margins, there was a 4,5 percent increase in wages. The average salary there in January was 28.799 denars, and in December it was 27.333 denars.
At wholesalers, if you look at the advertisements, warehouse workers and distributors are most often required, and as you can read in the section on work tasks, several jobs are usually combined in one, such as an administrative worker (receiving and issuing documentation) , manual worker (loading, unloading and stacking) and product distributor.
And retail employees say they are multitasking and that stores are short-staffed, often giving up hard work, so that probably keeps wage levels up.

Sectors with the biggest decline

The biggest drop in wages is in the "Production of tobacco products" sector. There, the January drop on a monthly basis is as much as 45,5 percent! The average salary in this sector in January was MKD 26.674, and in December it was MKD 45.258. There are two tobacco factories in Macedonia, one is "Philip Morris Tobacco Factory - Prilep" and the second one is "Imperial Tobacco Tobacco Factory Skopje".
In air transport, wages decreased by an average of 40,7 percent, from MKD 94.537 in December to MKD 56.100 in January. But although the first association is usually the airports, as we unofficially learn there wages have not decreased. In this sector are the state-owned JSC M-NAV, which performs air traffic control, as well as the Civil Aviation Agency.
Wages in "Rental Activities" have also decreased a lot. The drop is by 35,3 percent on a monthly basis, that is, in January it was MKD 55.555.
