A strong storm has swept across Europe, and millions of Britons have been warned not to leave their homes due to the impact of Storm Dara, which earlier hit Ireland. According to British media, thousands of people were left without electricity after the first impact of the storm.

The Met Office has issued a life-threatening warning for strong winds in the morning, with "significant disruption" expected across much of the Welsh coast and parts of south-west England today.
Three million people in the danger zones received an urgent warning on their mobile phones to avoid driving and stay indoors.

London police said Storm Dara could bring wind gusts of up to 145 kilometers per hour. The red warning is one of nine warnings in effect this weekend, including two orange wind warnings.

The storm has already caused major problems in the electricity supply. According to reports from the National Grid, more than 12.600 households in central and south-west England, as well as more than 20.000 households in Wales, were left without power. Also, the Northern Ireland Electricity Distribution website states that they are currently unable to estimate when electricity supplies might resume.
