Denmark and the Netherlands will jointly donate a total of 14 "Leopard 2" tanks to Ukraine, the two countries announced today.

The Leopard 2A4 combat vehicles, which will be purchased from a third party and refurbished, are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2024, the joint statement said.

"For the hope of a peaceful and secure Europe, it is absolutely necessary that we do not allow the Ukrainians to fight alone," said Denmark's Acting Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

In February, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands also announced they would pool their resources to retrieve at least 100 old Leopard 1 tanks from industrial stockpiles and deliver them to Ukraine this year and next.
