Is Turkey becoming a secret "Russian weapon" and is Erdogan a Putin man?

Turkey has become a "secret weapon" of Russia in NATO due to its attitude towards Ukraine and the enlargement of the alliance, Fox News estimates.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's decision to block Sweden and Finland from joining NATO is a continuation of a series of moves by Ankara against Western interests.

"Erdogan is actively trying to destabilize the NATO alliance after part of the army wanted to overthrow it in 2016," Fox News reports.

Turkey has not imposed sanctions on Russia since the start of the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, Washington itself imposed sanctions on Ankara in 2020 over its purchase of Russia's S-400 missile system.

According to experts, whose position is expressed by the TV channel, Erdogan is currently using the Western alliance, and at the moment he is in a confrontation with its member states depending on what is politically more profitable for Turkey at that moment. At the same time, some have called the Turkish leader "Putin's man in NATO."
The Fox News report notes that Ankara will eventually agree to admit new members to the alliance, but at the moment Turkey's opposition within and disputes between NATO members are in Vladimir Putin's favor.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara could not support the inclusion of Sweden and Finland in the military bloc, because in that case the organization would become "a place where there will be many representatives of terrorists."

Erdoганan's remark refers primarily to Sweden, a country inhabited by a large number of Kurdish separatists whose activities are aimed at secession of the Kurdish part of Turkey.
