Will Trump expel Harry and Meghan Markle from the United States? The couple already has a backup plan

The fact that Donald Trump winning the election can be a nightmare for Prince Harry, because this Republican politician previously warned that Prince Harry will not have privileges in the United States. Prince Harry, who moved to the United States with Megan Markle in 2020, is now officially a resident, as confirmed by documents filed in April. It is stated there that the prince is a person with a permanent residence permit in the country, reports The Daily Mail.

However, during the long and increasingly tense election and presidential campaign between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, the US president-elect said he would take "appropriate action" on Harry's visa status if elected. He also slammed the Duke of Sussex, accusing him of an "unforgivable betrayal" of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Controversy surrounding Harry's status began after the Duke admitted in his memoir Reserve that he had used drugs in the past. In the US visa application, applicants are required to report any prior drug use. While it is not known how the Duke met the visa requirement, Trump publicly stated earlier this year that Harry would not receive "special treatment" if he was found to have concealed his past drug use.

In September 2020, shortly after Harry and his wife Meghan Markle moved to the United States, the couple called on American voters to "reject hate speech, misinformation and negativity online" in that year's election, which was ultimately won by Joe Biden. Although Harry and Meghan did not endorse either candidate, the way they worded their message led to accusations that they were referring to Trump, breaking British protocol that mandates the royal family's political neutrality.

Trump then, during a White House briefing, was asked about his reaction to their comments when he said: “I'm not a fan of Meghan, and she's already heard that. But I wish Harry the best of luck because he's going to need it."

When they decided to move from Canada, where they spent some time after leaving Great Britain, to the United States, in California, Trump wrote on Twitter that America would not pay for their insurance, but they had to take care of it themselves. Speaking to Piers Morgan, the pair's fiercest critic on the run, in 2022 he was even more scathing. He said he had never seen a person as controlling as the prince and that Meghan would surely leave him "when she decides she likes another guy better".

Royal advisers have suggested Harry and Meghan consider a "back-up plan" for where they could live if Trump decides to force Harry to leave, and one option could be the villa they bought in Portugal, as revealed by " Daily Mail' last month.
