Does Ivermectin Really Help Against Covid-19?
Despite all the recommendations and warnings, Ivermectin is still treated as a kind of "miracle cure" - especially in Latin America. After Australian scientists published a report in June 2020 in the journal Antiviral Research that the use of ivermectin in a preclinical, in vitro study, which means in the laboratory, a significant reduction in the coronavirus SARS-KV-2 was achieved, a real hysteria began. .

Ivermectin is essentially used to treat parasitic diseases in animals and humans, it is cheap and sold freely, without a prescription. It is used for example against scabies or diseases caused by parasites. It acts on the chloride channels by causing paralysis or death of the parasites.
Some health authorities oppose the use
True, conclusive evidence of efficacy is currently lacking, although in the meantime, according to Clinicaltrials.gov of the US National Library of Medicine, there are 41 antiparasitic studies, 14 of which have already been completed.
The World Health Organization and the US FDA do not recommend the use of ivermectin for the treatment of Covid-19, warning of side effects. Further research is needed to prove whether ivermectin may be appropriate as a preventative or coronavirus treatment, according to their position.
And SAHRA, the South African Drug Administration, issued a use warning at the end of December last year: there is no confirmed data on the use of ivermectin in the treatment of Covid-19 infections. In terms of safety and efficacy, there is no evidence to support the use of ivermectin, nor any clinical studies that would justify its use.

This alliance of intensive care physicians aims to develop and evaluate Covid-19 treatment protocols based on records, current and optimized. The result actually sounds like a miracle tool, which has long been known, available almost everywhere and on top of that it is also cheap.

After studying the existing clinical data, the FLCCC in mid-December 2020 came to the conclusion that Ivermectin can indeed greatly reduce the presence of the virus. In addition, the antiparasitic drug may inhibit the transmission and development of Covid-19 in infected individuals. Thus, ivermectin in patients with a mild or moderate clinical picture contributes to accelerated recovery and prevents deterioration if the drug is administered immediately after the onset of the first symptoms. In patients with severe clinical picture ivermectin reduces the need for hospital stay and reduces the mortality rate.

Data and good experiences
The FLCCC, in addition to the data, points to the positive experiences with Ivermectin in several Latin American countries. For example, the health authorities in Peru, Brazil and Paraguay used Ivermectin on a large scale and distributed it among the population, partly in May last year, just before the publication of the findings of Australian scientists.
Family doctors have received instructions, prescriptions for ivermectin can be issued
Widespread use, the FLCCC claims, has been successful because the number of cases in these regions has dropped significantly compared to areas where ivermectin has not been given.
Something similar has been observed, according to the FLCCC, outside of South America, for example in some African countries. Based on these successes, FLCCC physicians recommend the use of ivermectin as prophylaxis, but also as a drug for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
While safe and effective remedies are not available in sufficient quantities precisely in structurally weak and impoverished areas, Ivermectin is an alternative. Widespread use of this safe, inexpensive, and effective intervention in the global rise of Covid-19 infections would lead to a drastic reduction in infection and mortality rates in patients with mild, moderate, or even extremely severe disease.
