After the fall of the canopy of the railway station building in Novi Sad, some experts warn that the entire building is now unsafe and life-threatening. As the public was recently informed, this building does not have a permit for use and it is not yet known what exactly was intervened during the rehabilitation, because the construction documentation, despite everything that happened, is still under lock and key, they announced Serbian media.

Although the authorities insist that the train station canopy has not been reconstructed, it is clear from numerous photographs that the structure has been altered and that it did not have its original appearance immediately before the collapse.

However, the public still does not have access to the planners' documentation detailing exactly what was done, changed, adapted and rehabilitated to this building.

"After the fall of the canopy, the stability of the building is threatened. It lacked the weight needed to support the entire roof over such a large span. It is necessary for the public to know exactly what has been done to the building. The essence of the work is in private construction projects. We need to see if there are projects in which there are drawings, because the text does not say everything, explains Ana Ferik Ivanovich, president of the Association of Architects of Novi Sad, for Nova.rs.

"It is easy to understand a project like this. All you have to do is take a piece of A4 paper and place it upright so it stands. It will certainly fall. However, if you fold it up it will look like an accordion, it will remain stable. This construction was made according to this principle, but after the entire front part of the roof was broken, the building cannot be safe now", emphasizes Ferik Ivanovich.
