"Making Greenland Great Again" – Republicans propose bill to buy Greenland

Republican lawmakers in the US House of Representatives are trying to win support for a bill authorizing talks to buy Greenland, under the "Make Greenland Great Again" bill, copies of which were distributed today, US media reported. Politics.

This was confirmed by the offices of Republican Congressmen Andy Ogles and Diana Harshbarger.

If passed, the bill would allow President-elect Donald Trump to enter into negotiations with Denmark starting on January 20, when he takes office as US president. The document states that Congress authorizes the President, beginning at noon on January 20, to begin negotiations with the Kingdom of Denmark to secure the acquisition of Greenland.

It added that "no later than five calendar days after reaching an agreement with Denmark" regarding the acquisition of Greenland, the US president will transmit the agreement, including all related materials and annexes, to the appropriate congressional committee.

Trump has previously stated that he wants Greenland to become part of the United States.

Republicans won narrow majorities in the House and Senate in the Nov. 5 election.
