The former director of the Center for Public Health and epidemiologist Dr. Aleksandar Stojanov in a conversation with "Free Press" says that if the epidemiological situation is as it is now, then students can return to school in the fall without any problems.

When asked if the warm weather can be used and the school year can start earlier, in order for students to organize outdoor classes, Stojanov says that regardless of the fact that the vacation for students is long, there is no information that it can be realized with us.

- I do not know that the school year could start earlier, but I do not know if there is another country in the world where children have three months off. And in Germany the school year starts in August years ago, I do not know if it is related to the weather or not, still in our country people go on vacation in July and August, so their children go with them, so it is related . I do not know how that would be realized, but if the epidemiological picture is how the students should return to school in September - says Stojanov.

Although claims that with special protocols, social distance maintenance, disinfection and a reduced capacity of 50 percent of students in one classroom in one shift, are part of the measures that students should study physically from September, however S.tojanov also expresses hope that the vaccination will take place sooner, especially in the younger population.

- Vaccination is unfortunately slow, I would like it to go faster. Otherwise, the classes should start in the fall with physical presence, I think that there would be no problem, in terms of the fact that by the fall we will increase the percentage of vaccinated people, especially in the younger population. Young people, not only in our country, but all over the world, do not want to be vaccinated, I do not know what their idea is, I hope it will improve - explains Stojanov.

The epidemiologist says that only the Indian strain can worsen the condition, but if the pace of vaccination is accelerated, even if it spreads in the country, it would not be a big problem.

- Schools are not a problem, students will return, the problem is that we are not vaccinated yet. . Let the Indian strain come, if you have 70 to 80 percent of the vaccinated population, then there will be no problem - concluded Dr. Stojanov.
