Until now, we thought that for a very long time it would not be possible to have a variant that would be stronger than the delta variant, however, the new strain indicates that the portability may be higher. Initial calculations by the Austrian Institute of Molecular Biotechnology suggest that the omicron strain could be up to 500 percent more portable than the delta strain. Just to remind you that the delta variant was 60 percent more portable than the alpha variant, and the omicron is 500 percent more portable than the delta-variant - explains Dr. Mehmedovic.
