Dr. Bekarovski: If we were not stubborn Balkans, we would have fewer graves and crying families
The number of deaths in Macedonia from covid-19 exceeded 6437. If this number does not seem scary to you, imagine that in just one and a half years Krushevo and Vevcani will disappear. Too painful, too sad, reads the latest post of Dr. Niko Bekarovski on the social network Facebook.
- And could it have been less fatal? Let us forget for a moment the protocols, which according to some are too loose, according to others too restrictive, let us forget the health workers, who according to some are murderers, according to others are heroes, let us forget the minister who for some is brilliant, for others incapable of forgetting weddings, parties, bars, irresponsible citizens, forget for a moment the dirty air, unhealthy diet, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, etc.
Could this black figure have been at least gray? Yes of course!
In Macedonia, since the beginning of July, vaccination is free, without any terms and anyone can be vaccinated. In the period from August 10, about 1000 of our unvaccinated citizens died from covid-19, and they could if they wanted to be completely vaccinated. All studies published so far indicate that the risk of death in vaccinated people is at least 11 times lower. Instead of 1000 new graves and crying families, that number would have been less than 90. Yesterday 42 of our citizens died, and they did not have to, just a little, believe in science.
And can you just imagine how much more beautiful and sunny this September day would have been, if we had been aware like the Danes and had 81% vaccinated, and not stubborn Balkans with only 37% vaccinated, writes Dr. Bekarovski.
