Carovska: We continue the reform processes in education with strong support of international partners

The Minister of Education and Science, Mila Carovska, at today's online meeting with Rosana Dudzak, UN Resident Coordinator in Northern Macedonia and representatives of several agencies of the UN system, pointed out the realization of the new educational model that aims for every child to achieve their full potential.

- From September, the new concept of learning in the first and fourth grade is introduced, and for that purpose, the announcements for making learning materials and for illustrating the contents have already been published. The new Law on Textbooks is in parliamentary procedure, as well as the amendments to the Law on Teachers and Professional Associates, which are part of the reform package. pointed out Carovska.

The Minister also spoke about the promotion of secondary vocational education. She said that through the process "Learn smart, work professionally", the Government is working to raise awareness of the importance of this type of education.

- With the new competition for enrollment in secondary education in the academic year 2021/2022, 97 dual classes have been opened with an increased volume of practical training for 2.001 students. The scholarship policy has been improved, a fund has been provided for 2.200 scholarships for first-year students, in a total value of about 60 million denars, which is a 10-fold increased budget compared to the last school year. stressed the Minister.

She stated that for the first time from the next school year, the educational assistance service is introduced, which is a precondition for providing inclusive education and it will be financed through the MES Budget.

- Norms and standards have been prepared for this service and the descriptions of the competencies and work tasks have been given, and in the next period trainings for trainers will be organized, which will further deliver trainings for the future educational assistants, said Carovska.

The representatives of the UN agencies emphasized the full commitment to cooperation in order to support and coordinate the development and reform processes that are being implemented in the Ministry of Education and Science.
