Red Star does not give the throne, in the championship they beat Partizan for the sixth title in ABA
The Red Star basketball players defended the title in the ABA League after they defeated Partizan with 80:77 in the decisive fifth in the grand final.
The match started in front of full stands and ended in front of empty seats because the "Aleksandar Nikolic" hall had to be emptied after the "red and whites" fans started throwing hard objects at the referees.
This is the sixth title for Red Star in the ABA League, which equals the eternal rival Partizan on the list of teams with the most titles in the regional competition.
The match was better opened by the "red and whites" who took the lead with 6: 0, but Partizan returned with their series of 0: 6 after which the duel continued in a level game with many mistakes in the attack of both teams. In the second quarter, Partizan took the lead after the triple of Kevin Panther with 25:32 in 15 minutes.
The Red Star basketball players managed to catch a score in the last minute after Hollins's points for 33:34, but Leday gives Partizan a four-point advantage. In the third quarter, Red Star fans, the "Delii" caused the match to be interrupted after they started firing hard objects at the referees who withdrew to the locker room.
After a break of more than thirty minutes, the match continued in front of empty stands. The result uncertainty was present until the very end of the match, Partizan's biggest advantage after the break was five points (50:55) while Red Star reached four points in the last minute (80:76). In the last minute of the match, the Red Star entered with a three-point advantage after the Walters triple.
Then, 12 seconds before the end, Davidovac hit two free throws for a four-point advantage, after which he missed a shot for three points in Leday, and Avramovi на hit only one free throw at nine seconds until the end.
