Marin Cilic advanced to the semifinals of the Grand Slam tournament Roland Garros with the victory over Andrei Rublev in five sets.

After the triumph over the second world racket Danil Medvedev, the Croatian managed to eliminate another Russian tennis player in four hours and 15 minutes of play with 5: 7, 6: 3, 6: 4, 3: 6 and 7: 6.

Cilic saved the "break" ball in the seventh and ninth games of the first set, and gave up in the 11th game when Rublev reached the "break" and won the first set in the next game.

In the second set, Cilic got the "break" advantage at the start, saved the "break" ball in the sixth game and turned the fifth set ball into a 1: 1 level in sets.

A "break" solved the third set, and the Croat did. Rublev announced with a defended set that he would not give up, and he confirmed that by winning the fourth set. Again he decided only one "break" in the late phase of the set, and Cilic defended two sets of balls before the match entered the fifth set.

The Croatian tennis player had a "break" and a match ball in 10 games, but Rublev did not give up so easily.

In the end, everything was decided with a tie-break, and the placement in the semifinals was dominantly confirmed by Cilic, who will play with the winner of the match to enter the final of the Open Championship in France. Casper Rudd - Holger Rune.
