They exist in the world blue zones in which they circulate centenarians, and a team of experts are trying to uncover the secrets of why they live longer.

Nicoya in Costa Rica, Ikaria in Greece, Sardinia in Italy, Loma Linda in California and Okinawa in Japan are the regions of the world where they live the oldest people.

In most of these regions the diet is based on the local cuisine, there are commonalities between them from which we can learn a lot.

Exist four drinks which are common among these people are:

In the blue zone areas, it is impossible to start the day without coffee. Research shows that coffee can have numerous health benefits, including improving cognitive health, reducing the risk of age-related diseases such as Parkinson's disease and dementia, and positively affecting weight loss and reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes.

It is important to note that these benefits come from the black coffee itself, with no added sugars or milk.

All residents of the blue zones regularly drink tea. Green tea is especially popular for its many health benefits, including supporting metabolism, lowering cholesterol and preventing certain types of cancer. Research has also shown that regular tea consumption can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and contribute to longevity.

Red wine

In Sardinia, most people consume moderate amounts of red wine on a daily basis. This wine contains antioxidants known as polyphenols, which protect blood vessels from damage and help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol. It is crucial to note moderation in the consumption of red wine in combination with a balanced diet and physical activity in order to achieve a positive effect on heart health.

Although all the above drinks are useful for health, do not forget about plain water. Blue zone residents, like those in Loma Linda, often stress the importance of hydration. Drinking enough water helps the body maintain fluid balance, eliminate toxins and perform all its functions. As you age, your sense of thirst may wane, so it's important to stay committed to your water intake throughout the day.

It is important to note that moderation is key with all of these beverages and that each beverage should be consumed according to individual needs and lifestyle.
