Czech President Miloš Zeman was admitted to the Central Military Hospital in Prague today for a planned short-term stay, the hospital's spokesperson said on Thursday. Reuters.

Zeman, 77, used a wheelchair and spent more than six weeks in hospital last year with an unspecified serious condition that temporarily raised concerns about his ability to carry out his duties.

Zeman is head of state and has powers, including appointing prime ministers and central bank leaders, but most executive power rests in the hands of the government.

Zeman's last five-year term ends in March next year.
