Prices are jumping day by day! How to save money in times of crisis with minimal changes

The global coronavirus pandemic has also hit the world economy. Many people around the world have lost their jobs, and many have lost their monthly income. On top of that, prices are skyrocketing day by day.

In a situation where we are not sure what awaits us tomorrow, this is definitely the moment to start saving a little.

The first rule for successful savings is to completely eliminate unnecessary expenses. Start with the following:

Bills and household expenses

Save on water

We are not even aware of how much water we consume in vain during the day. First of all, it is not time to fill the tub - this method of bathing consumes a lot of water, and is not recommended for hygienic reasons. Prefer a quick shower, and while soaping, turn off the water.

Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Rinse your mouth with the water you poured into the glass, so that the water does not flow in vain while rinsing the paste from the mouth. You will be shocked at how much water it saves - you can even wash your hair from wasted water! If you turn off the water while brushing your hands or teeth, you can save up to 5 liters of water per person per day.

The same goes for cooking - when you peel a vegetable, wash it immediately instead of immersing it in a bowl full of water.

Dishwashing and laundry

These machines save us a lot of effort and money, but when washing dishes in the machine, many make one mistake - they leave the dishes to "harden" from the rest of the food, and then leave all the "dirty work" to the machine. When washing such dishes, the machine must use a longer program that consumes more electricity and water. Introduce the rule that each member of the household, after using the dishes, rinses them under a stream of lukewarm water and thus removes food debris from the dishes. So you are free to start the machine on a shorter and more economical program.

Even when washing clothes, certain items can be saved. For example, it is always better to wash one big round of laundry instead of two smaller ones, because that way we save the amount of water and electricity consumed. An important point is the washing temperature. According to the American site Energy.gov, only very dirty laundry should be washed in boiling water, while everything else can be washed equally efficiently in lukewarm or cold water, which will also halve the amount of energy consumed. The mentioned platform also advises the clothes to be dried in an "old-fashioned" way with a wire or dryer, because in that way up to 71% of the electricity can be saved.

The same site also offered a solution for lower heating consumption. If you reduce the thermostat temperature by a few degrees overnight, it is possible to reduce consumption by as much as 10 percent!

Stove
The hob or hob must be clean so that no electricity is wasted. Also make sure the bottom of the pan matches the size of the hob - if the sherpa is smaller, you will consume 10 percent more unnecessary electricity.

Other home appliances
All small household appliances should be disconnected from electricity when not in use, as this saves up to 10 percent of total electricity. These include microwave ovens, televisions, computers, music lines, and even chargers. In addition to saving electricity, this habit will extend their lifespan.

Buying food

The basic principle of savings is to buy consciously. Buy only the items you have put on the list, and before compiling the list, inspect the refrigerator so that you do not buy what you have and do not need at the moment. The worst financial decisions are made when emotions get involved, then people buy what they do not need and spend money in vain, so try to influence this as well.

Make a list of your debts, from the smallest to the largest. Focus on the little one first and try to get it back as soon as possible. When you get rid of it, the money you have been giving up for that debt, keep it aside to pay off the next debt you have. This method has proven to be the most successful.

There are a number of products that can be purchased once and used multiple times, saving huge amounts of money. Let's start with something small, for example, paper. According to an article published in The Atlantic, Americans spend $ 5,7 million a year on paper towels, which is $ 17,50 per person. On the other hand, an investment in washable canvas packaging is a better investment. If you want to save even more, you can also use old T-shirts to wipe the work surface or objects in the home.

Plastic bags are probably the biggest polluter of the environment, but also an unnecessary weight for the wallet.

Spontaneous purchase

It can be said that excessive shopping is one of the biggest "vices" of modern society, and the habit of not depriving yourself of anything negatively affects any attempt to save.

Remember - money is saved before you buy, not after, and most people do, and that's the main reason why you have no savings and can barely make ends meet.. Apply the following advice - when the salary "lies" in your account, set aside 20% from the side, and only then carefully start saving the rest.
