Prices of basic products will remain frozen in February
The Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia announced that at today's eighth session it decided to continue the importance of the measure for determining the highest prices of basic food products, such as: bread, sugar, flour-type 400, sunflower edible oil, permanent fat milk of 2,8%, 3,2% and 3,5%, fresh meat and delicacies, cheese and cottage cheese, rice, eggs and pasta.
With this decision, the highest prices of these products remain at the level of the regular prices that were applied on December 1, 2021, in wholesale and retail trade, excluding the discount prices (action discount / discount / sale) that were valid on December 1, 2021.
This market intervention measure, which started to be applied on December 6, 2021, will continue to be applied until February 28, 2022, according to the Government.
The government on December 4 last year passed a decision freezing the prices of certain basic food products. Additionally it was adopted and decision to be frozen and the price of rice, pasta and eggs. Price freezing applies to both retail and wholesale trade.
The Government then announced that the decision to set the highest prices of basic foodstuffs could be extended after January 31, 2022, if the market situation still requires it.
