The price offered by ESM is not unrealistic and political, but a responsible decision, says Bekteshi
The price of electricity offered by ESM of 48 euros per megawatt hour is not unrealistic in such circumstances, and at least political, but it is a responsible decision, said the Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi.
He states in a Facebook post that the average price per megawatt-hour of electricity for the period July-December 2022 on the stock exchanges is around 350 euros.
- In conditions of energy crisis, as a responsible Government, we always meet the needs of the citizens, and we will continue in the future, emphasizes the Minister of Economy.
Bekteshi says that with the measures taken by the Government so far, 80% of the electricity bills for households and over 60.000 companies have been reimbursed.
- We will continue in this direction in order to protect the citizens from price shocks, Bekteshi added in the announcement.
ESM was the only bidder in the tender for procurement of electricity to meet the needs of customers for the period July - December this year announced by EVN Home as a universal supplier of electricity, offering a price of 48 euros per megawatt hour, which is 17 percent higher than the previous .
- AD ESM as the most favorable and only bidder in the tender through electronic auction, offered EVN Home a purchase price of electricity of 48 euros per megawatt hour, to cover 100 percent of the total planned quantities. The purchase price of 48 euros per megawatt hour for the period July - December 2022 is 17 percent higher than the previous one that was won in the last tender of the Universal Supplier (January - June 2022), when AD ESM offered a purchase price of electricity of 41 euros for megawatt hour for the total planned needs of EVN Home, informed on Friday from EVN Macedonia.
ESM justifies its offer with "the enormous increase in energy prices globally, as well as their unavailability, especially during the heating season."
- The prices of fuel oil, coal, gas and electricity are extremely high and there are difficulties in the procurement, which affects the production price of electricity from AD ESM, said ESM.
