Customs boasted: Seized jewelry, watches, foreign currency, cigarettes...
Over the past week, customs officers have thwarted multiple attempts to smuggle a variety of goods, including jewelry, wristwatches, cigarettes, tobacco, foreign currency, auto parts, clothing, technical goods, supplements, coffee beans, and counterfeits.
– 19 pieces of jewelry (SWAROVSKI and COEUR.DE) and an ESPIRIT wristwatch, with a value of about 120.000 denars and evaded duties in the amount of 42.132 denars, were found with a passenger who arrived by flight from Basel; 5 pieces of jewelry (rings and bracelets) and 3 wristwatches from the brands ROLEX and CITIZEN were found with a passenger who arrived by flight from Vienna. In two separate cases at Skopje International Airport, 24 pieces of jewelry and 4 wristwatches were discovered during the control of the travel bags of two Macedonian citizens.
- By the mobile customs teams, 23 packs of Parliament aqua blue cigarettes, without excise stamps, were found in the factory gaps of a bus with Macedonian license plates in two suitcases upon entering the country at the Deve Bair border crossing.
- In two separate cases at Skopje International Airport during baggage control, 72 packs of cigarettes were discovered, of which: 32 packs of MARLBORO, PALL MALL, DAVIDOF and WINSTON cigarettes, and 1500 grams of GOLDEN VIRGINIA tobacco, with Macedonian excise stamps, with a value of 53.875 denar and 40 packs of MARLBORO and MAYFAIR SKY BLUE cigarettes, with Kosovo excise stamps, with a value of 60.000 denars.
-Customs officers in cooperation with members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized 23,850 kilograms of chopped smoking tobacco and 18 packs of cigarettes for which the seller did not have documents for paid customs and excise duties at a market in Skopje.
-During a personal search of a passenger who applied to enter the country at the Blace border crossing, 4.000 Swiss francs were found. The passenger reported that he was carrying 9.900 Swiss francs, but another 4.100 Swiss francs were found during the search. According to legal regulations, 10.000 Swiss francs were returned to the passenger.
- Mobile customs teams, during the control of a bus with Macedonian license plates inside a suitcase owned by the driver, discovered 25.550 euros, of which 10.000 euros were returned to the driver in accordance with legal regulations, and 15.550 euros were retained.
– In the trunk of a car registered for entry into the country at the Blace border crossing, a retained gearbox for an Audi Q5 passenger vehicle was found.
- 114 pieces of various auto parts (heaters, stabilizers, spark plugs, water hoses, fuel filters and others) were found in compartments in the cabin and compartments in the cabin doors of a truck with Macedonian license plates registered for entry into the country at the border crossing Swamp. The value of the temporarily retained goods is 64.150 denars.
– At the border crossing Tabanovce highway were found: 1 used Yamaha motorcycle in parts, 1 new professional induction heating device Telwin Smart Inductor 5000 and 6 used steering wheels for passenger vehicles in the trunk of a minibus with Macedonian license plates registered for entry into the country.
- At the Delchevo border crossing, in two separate cases, during the control of two cars driven by Macedonian citizens, registered to leave the country, 2 sets of Bulgarian license plates and traffic permits were discovered. In both cases, the drivers stated that they were taking the license plates to Bulgaria to deregister them, and the vehicles they belonged to were sold for scrap without first being cleared for import customs and paying import duties.
-Customs officers prevented several attempts to smuggle various goods, including 124 pieces of clothing and 12 women's bags at the Delchevo border crossing. At the Novo Selo border crossing, 21 pieces of clothing were found in the trunk and under the seats of a car registered for entry into the country. At the Tabanovce highway border crossing, 14 men's jackets from well-known world brands were discovered in the trunk and behind the front seats of a car, with a value of 810.000 denars and evaded duties in the amount of 313.065 denars.
- By the Service for mobile scanners in several separate cases, 1 new rowing machine and 4 used technical products (TV, dishwasher and washing machine), 50 thermostats for pellet stoves, 4 gas heaters and 1 electric were discovered heater, 1 camouflage suit and 4.410 capsules and 1,82 kilograms of various supplements.
- 6,1 kilograms of coffee beans from the brands BONCAMPO and INCAROM, 111 pieces of scented candles, 20 packs of wet wipes, and 64 pieces of clothing were found in several bags and suitcases in a car registered for entry into the country at the Tabanovce highway border crossing.
Goods suspected of infringing intellectual property rights were discovered and seized by the mobile customs teams at the Kumanovo customs office:
- 4.080 toys and school supplies with protected trademarks, with a reported value of 225.057 denars, were found during the control of goods originating from China, reported with two declarations for import customs clearance at the Kumanovo customs office.
– 180 plastic toys with protected trademarks with a reported value of 28.000 denars were discovered during the control of goods originating from China, declared for import customs at the Strumica customs office.
