Human error is the leading and main version of the tragedy on the Struma highway. This was stated at a briefing by the Bulgarian Deputy Chief Prosecutor and Director of the National Investigation Service Borislav Sarafov.

- The version of a terrorist act has been properly researched by us. We categorically reject it, said Deputy Chief Prosecutor Borislav Sarafov during the briefing.

He gave details of the investigation into the serious accident on the highway "Struma" in which 45 people died.

According to him, most of the dead on the bus died of suffocation. An autopsy was performed on their bodies.

"There is a lot of speculation in the media about the incident on the" Struma "highway. "There are no eyewitnesses in the case, and there are already over 20 in the media," Sarafov explained.

- Two of the passengers on the bus were questioned. They were vigilant and gave extremely objective information. Their testimonies completely matched and we consider that they are completely credible and correctly presented. Two more passengers who are in Pirogov are being interrogated and will testify today, added the Deputy Chief Prosecutor.

The version for transported fuel in the burned bus was categorically rejected. According to Sarafov, 44 bodies were found at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Bulgaria's chief prosecutor, Siika Mileva, also said that during interrogation, one of the survivors said eight people had been rescued, not 8. At the same time, 7 bodies had been found at the scene. Therefore, investigators are checking the version to see if there is another survivor and where he is.

- We found 44 bodies, and he categorically stated that eight people were rescued. I told him you are seven in the hospital. And he categorically said no, we saved eight people. During the investigation, 44 bodies were found. According to the data we have, 52 people traveled, we found 44 bodies, and seven people were hospitalized - four men and three women. The big puzzle remains, where is the eighth person. We are working on that version, we do not want to spread misinformation, it can also be a bad memory of the witness, said Mileva.

Mileva added that the witness was then questioned by investigators in the presence of an interpreter and he again categorically claimed that eight people had been rescued.

- I was at the scene and saw the charred corpses, the view was horrible, the situation was more difficult when together with the Chief Prosecutor of Northern Macedonia and the Prosecutor for Organized Crime and Corruption we visited the hospital "Pirogov" where seven of the injured were accommodated. They were in good physical condition, but mentally they were in a very difficult condition. Everyone was in a separate room in excellent condition and they are taken care of by the best doctors in the country, said Mileva.
