Bulgarian rock musician Kiril Marichkov died at the age of 80 in the village of Selanovtsi, where he was supposed to perform with the group The Foundation. During the rehearsal for the concert, he fell ill, and his team called an ambulance, which arrived in exactly seven minutes. write Bulgarian media.

But despite the quick reaction, the doctors failed to revive the singer. His family claims that the musician always wanted to die like that, while on stage. One of Marichkov's last performances was with the Foundation at the closing event of the Art Festival "Apolonia" in Sozopol. He said that this concert was special for him because it was his first after the illness that kept him away from the stage for five months. At the end of the concert, the director of the festival presented him with the statuette, which is traditionally awarded to artists who have participated in the Festival in all 40 years of its existence.

Marichkov was born in Sofia on October 30, 1944. From a young age he played piano, clarinet, guitar and bass guitar. He studied engineering and said that training to be an engineer and not a musician was the biggest mistake of his life. In 1967, he was one of the founding members of the group The Crickets, which remained an extremely popular rock group for decades. They played and performed for 30 years, released 12 albums and toured countless times.
