The fire broke out in front of the bus, and according to the police, there were oil pipes in the spare tires. The road was flooded with oil, Vasko Pirgov, secretary of the Pernik Regional Security Council, who was among the first to arrive at the scene, told BTV.

Bulgarian experts commented on the information that could have been obtained yesterday morning the accident on the Struma highway. The secretary of the Regional Security Council of the city of Pernik, Vasko Pirgov, who was among the first to arrive at the scene, believes that the driver of the burned bus was driving at an inappropriate speed, more than 100 kilometers per hour, and was moving on the right lane.

- The bus hit the front right tire in a sign that it flew 45 meters. The surface of the road was perfect, the bus could not slip. "There are no signs of braking," Pirgov told BTV.

According to him, the fire broke out from the front part of the bus, and according to the police, there were oil pipes in the spare tires.

- The fire started at the boiler. The road was flooded with oil - said Pirgov.

According to him, the vehicle stopped at a gas station which is only 20 minutes away from the scene of the tragedy, so it is impossible for the driver to fall asleep. The road surface was in excellent condition.

Pirgov believes that most of the victims probably suffocated and then burned.

- There is no way to remove the taho card, because the front part is completely burned. And the sheet metal has melted - said Pirgov.

The driver tried to stabilize the bus?

Diana Rusinova of the European Center for Transport Policy in Bulgaria analyzed drone footage.

- It is mandatory to determine the condition of the road signs in that section, as well as a few kilometers back, to see if they confused the driver and whether it led to difficulties in following the road - Rusinova told BTV.

It is quite possible that the sign for the island was missing or the driver did not see it, or he fell asleep, the expert said.

- The footage from the drone clearly shows how he, after losing control, tried to stabilize the bus, but then hit the protective fence. That can happen. "But I can not say at what exact moment it happened."

Another shot shows a sign placed on the island on the road. According to Rusinova, that sign was not placed correctly and was placed too high.

- That sign should be placed lower to be seen better. The sign is not visible. I am not sure that this sign was there and it is good to check if it is in the ruins, because the recordings are not visible - added the road expert.

Highway, and there are turns, descents and ascents

The President of the Union of Drivers for Auto-Training Jonko Ivanov for "Bulgaria in the morning" says that it is not a highway, it is a side road, with many turns, descents and ascents, and the maximum speed is still 120 km / h.

- On these steep slopes, the car's engine brake is tight, it is the driver's responsibility. We do not see a stopping distance here. Low protective fences should not exist on such risky parts of the road - said Ivanov.

It is the duty of the road owner, depending on the road conditions and the trajectory of the road itself, to place additional signs for reducing the speed, says Ivanov.

- In light rain, a muddy road is created and the tires can not have good traction on the road surface. In case of inconsistent speed and clumsiness with the operation of the braking system, the vehicle can not be operated - explained the expert.

Ivanov pointed out that there was an impact in the protective fence to the right of the bus and an almost frontal impact in the road junction. According to him, it is surprising that from 2 pm to 8 am there is no picture of the situation and that there were no witnesses to the accident.

- The road, the vehicle or the driver - one of these three things or all of them led to this tragedy? There should be two drivers on the bus. Is the vacation time full? He enters Bulgaria at 22 pm and travels a long distance, stopping for about an hour to rest. People got off, which means that not everyone slept during this period - says Ivanov, who added that the protective fence on the road is new and managed to stop the bus.

According to him, the investigation will not last long, because two countries are affected.

"The real thing would be to form a joint commission," he said.

The road was built by BCP "Mavrovo"

The Bulgarian "24 Hours" announced that the Macedonian company GP "Mavrovo" built the section where the bus caught fire.

"15 years ago it became clear that this section is of very poor quality. Poor substrate and soft protective fences. The reflectors on them, the so-called cat eyes, do not reflect the light of the headlights and are difficult to orient, especially at the corners. The swans have the opposite slope and collect water. There are always puddles of rain and the danger of slipping. "That is why this 'highway' is not certified as such," the portal writes.
