Bulgaria will not stop the transit of Russian gas to Northern Macedonia, Greece and Serbia
The executive director of the Bulgarian state-owned company Bulgargransgaz, Vladimir Malinov, told BNT that although Russia had cut off natural gas supplies to Bulgaria, they would not stop the transit of Russian gas to northern Macedonia, Greece and Serbia.
According to the MIA correspondent from Sofia, according to Malinov, Bulgaria has started negotiations with Turkey to provide a natural gas supply route as an alternative route.
Bulgargransgaz is ready to fill the Bulgarian national gas storage facility in Chiren by the end of summer and autumn. Malinov said that another test of the gas connection between Bulgaria and Greece was done yesterday and everything is going according to plan, so that the interconnector will be completed by the end of June, although Bulgartransgaz itself will not be its operator.
As of May 15, there are 113 million cubic meters of gas in the warehouse in Chiren, which is about 21 percent of the technical capacity, Malinov added.
The filling of the Bulgarian gas storage has started and about 1 million cubic meters of gas are being tanked daily.
