Bulgaria will repair "Bulgarian Post" with 25 million euros

A plan for the recovery and digitization of "Bulgarian Post" was approved by the transitional government. The plan will be realized with the help of 25 million euros, provided from the budget by increasing the capital of the state company. The proposal will be sent for notification to Brussels, for permission to grant this aid.

"We are working on a plan to restructure the liabilities of "Bulgarian Post" together with the Bulgarian Development Bank. The idea is to restructure all these obligations due to the fact that currently, because they have not been restructured, "Bulgarian Post" annually loses about 3 to 3,5 million euros in interest," said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Hristo Alexiev, announced " Segabgnjus".

Despite protests by postal workers a month ago over low wages, it became clear that the company had accumulated a backlog of 36 million euros.

"Bulgarian Post" also suffered a major hacker attack last year, which disabled a large part of the company's activities for a long time. This further exacerbated the erosion of its market share in courier services against private operators, the government said in a statement on the decision.
