By repaying part of the arrears and out-of-court settlement for writing off interest liabilities, after 14 years the budget account of the Municipality of Zrnovci is unblocked.

According to the tabular review received from the Ministry of Finance, based on four executive decisions from 2007, the Zrnovo local self-government owed about 6,3 million denars.

- For over half of the total debt, we made a settlement, in accordance with the Law on Financial Support of Local Self-Government Units, for overdue liabilities to the creditor "Granit AD" from Skopje. An out-of-court agreement for writing off the interest of about 1,4 million denars was reached with the creditor "Konstruktor Renata and others DOO", and we are committed to a dynamic plan for repayment of the principal that will be paid in full by April this year. The other two grounds on which the municipality owed were paid in full, after which we received a notification from the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance that our budget account has been unblocked, said the mayor of Zrnovci, Borcho Kocev.

The main goal of the legal and financial activities undertaken by the municipal services in the past two months was to prevent unproductive outflow of budget funds to repay interest to creditors. By unblocking the account, the local self-government of Zrnovci in the future will be able to function without restrictions and to realize the planned development plans.
