Bruce Willis quit acting due to illness, but will appear in films with the help of a 'digital twin'
The Hollywood star Bruce Willis can still appear in films after selling his 'digital twin' rights to US firm Deepcake last year, before being diagnosed with aphasia, which can now use his face.
The engineers of the web platform for content optimization, with the help of artificial intelligence, created an ultra-realistic "digital twin" of the actor, uploading photos of his face on their network, it says "Daily Mail".
It now only takes engineers "three to five days" to recreate Willis in the designs, but the actor will bring the final confirmation of what has been done.
“I loved the precision with which my character was created. It's a mini-movie in my usual genre of action comedy,” the star said in a statement on their website. "For me it is a great opportunity to go back in time. With the advent of modern technology, even when I was on another continent, I was able to communicate, work and participate in filming. It's a very new and interesting experience and I thank our whole team," added Bruce.
Star Wars producers use deepfake technology for all their cast members, and celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jim Carrey and Michelle Pfeiffer reportedly have "digital twins".
Bruce has three more action thrillers that he shot last year before he was diagnosed with aphasia and retired.
