The death toll from the earthquake in Indonesia has risen to 321
The death toll from the 5,6-magnitude earthquake that struck Indonesia's West Java province nearly a week ago has risen to 321, the country's top emergency management official said.
Suharyanto, head of the National Crisis Management Service, said at least 11 people were still missing. The earthquake damaged more than 62.000 houses, as a result of which more than 73.000 citizens were relocated to 325 reception centers across the region.
"Humanitarian workers are gradually reaching the affected citizens in remote villages with logistics and food products and erecting tents for them," Suharyanto added. The service that monitors seismological activity said Monday's main earthquake was followed by 284 aftershocks, with their intensity gradually decreasing.
