Brnabic: Russia today is doing what some other countries did to us in 1999 and 2008
Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that in political terms, Serbia "has clearly defined" the conflict in Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of international law, said the MIA correspondent from Belgrade.
- Serbia has chosen not only its own path, but also the path in accordance with all the principles of international law. If you respect your territorial integrity, then you must respect the territorial integrity of all internationally recognized states. "We think it is very wrong to violate the territorial integrity of Ukraine," Brnabic told Happy TV.
She reiterated that Serbia is "the only country in Europe" that has not imposed sanctions on Russia.
- We said politically clearly what our position is, but we did not comply with the sanctions. This is often overlooked. And some ambassadors forgot that we did not remain completely neutral. "They must have more understanding of us when it comes to sanctions or fight for full respect for our territorial integrity as they fight for the territorial integrity of Ukraine," Brnabic said.
She assessed that the world is in a situation in which the international legal order is based on "rule of force".
- When the great powers choose which UN resolution they will fully respect and which they will violate, then there is an international legal order where you have only the rule of law. Russia today is doing what some other countries did to us in 1999 and 2008. They use the same phrases, that they had to attack to prevent potential genocide, said the Serbian Prime Minister.
